About The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Frontend Developer to join our dynamic team on a part-time basis, working 24 hours per week from Monday to Wednesday. This role primarily focuses on our mobile application, developed with React Native, with additional responsibilities on our Next.js-based website. As a key member of our frontend development team, you will work closely with 3-4 other developers to enhance and maintain our platform's features, performance, and user experience. Your work will involve translating designs and wireframes into functional components, implementing new features, and optimizing existing functionalities to ensure a seamless experience for our users. Embracing AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code is integral to our workflow, enabling faster and more efficient coding while maintaining high standards of quality. The role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a widely-used consumer app, impacting outdoor enthusiasts nationwide, while working in a flexible, remote environment that values innovation and collaboration.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess at least four years of professional experience in JavaScript development, with a strong focus on React Native as their primary framework. Proficiency in ReactJS for web development is also required. Experience working with React Native, including debugging and package management, is essential. Familiarity with Next.js, including routing, server-side rendering (SSR), static site generation (SSG), and performance optimization, is highly desirable. Hands-on experience with AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor is necessary, along with the ability to effectively direct and validate AI-generated code. Knowledge of Android and iOS native development, including release processes, environment setup, and certificate management, is preferred. Familiarity with build automation systems like Bitrise or Jenkins, CSS for UI styling, and collaborative design tools such as Figma or Sketch will be advantageous. Additional experience with Firebase, Crashlytics, Elasticsearch, performance tuning, and offline mobile functionality will set candidates apart. Strong communication skills, the ability to estimate work accurately, and a collaborative mindset are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

Participate actively in requirement analysis sessions alongside the team to understand project scope and technical needs. Develop, implement, and maintain new features and improvements within our React Native mobile application, ensuring high performance and responsiveness. Contribute to the enhancement of our Next.js website by building and maintaining robust web features, optimizing load times, and ensuring a smooth user experience. Translate wireframes and design comps into well-structured, reusable components, and develop comprehensive delivery plans. Accurately estimate the complexity and time required for new projects, providing clear documentation and testing strategies. Utilize Claude Code daily to accelerate development, while critically reviewing AI-generated code for correctness, performance, and maintainability before integration. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers and backend developers, to ensure seamless integration and delivery of features. Identify opportunities to reduce technical debt, improve code quality, and enhance automation processes. Address and resolve performance concerns promptly, conducting performance tuning on app and database code. Maintain high standards of code organization, documentation, and testing to ensure long-term maintainability. Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry best practices to continuously improve development workflows and product quality.
