Role Description:
We are seeking a Software Engineer II to join a consumer digital banking technology team supporting web-based View Account and Self-Service applications. This team develops and supports customer-facing web applications and middleware used across the bank's consumer services organization.
The environment currently includes .NET Core/.NET APIs and Angular, but the organization is actively transitioning toward a modern application architecture built primarily with React and Java. The new application suite will be hosted in Microsoft Azure and leverage Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on development experience with React and Java and be comfortable contributing to modern, cloud-hosted, single-page applications. Azure experience is highly desirable, while .NET experience is considered an additional advantage for supporting the transition from legacy applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and support consumer-facing web applications.
- Develop modern single-page applications using React.
- Build and maintain backend and middleware services using Java.
- Contribute to the organization's transition from existing .NET/Angular applications to React/Java.
- Develop applications that will operate within a Microsoft Azure cloud environment.
- Work with applications deployed through Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Collaborate with technical leads, product owners, engineers, and other technology teams.
- Participate in Agile/PI planning, development, testing, troubleshooting, and production support.
- Develop maintainable, scalable, and reliable solutions for high-volume consumer applications.
- Take ownership of assigned development work and contribute effectively within an established engineering team.
Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Minimum of an Associates degree and 5 years systems analysis/application development experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years systems analysis/application development experience.
Required Skills
- Strong hands-on React development experience.
- Strong hands-on Java development experience.
- Experience developing modern web applications / single-page applications (SPAs).
- Experience developing or integrating with APIs and backend services.
- Solid understanding of modern software development practices and application architecture.
- Ability to work effectively within an Agile development environment.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills
- Microsoft Azure experience.
- Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) or Kubernetes.
- .NET Core / .NET API development experience.
- Angular experience.
- Experience modernizing or migrating legacy applications to newer technology stacks.
- Previous banking or financial services experience.
- Experience developing high-volume, customer-facing digital applications.
