Lead Software Engineer - We’re working with a leading UK technology business that is embarking on a major AI-driven engineering transformation.
The business is exploring how agentic engineering can fundamentally change the economics of rebuilding a major customer-facing application, moving away from traditional rewrite approaches towards a faster, incremental modernisation strategy.
They are looking for a Lead Software Engineer with strong mobile application experience to work alongside an existing Tech Lead to define the future architecture of their mobile platform and introduce a new AI-native way of building software.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who has built and scaled mobile applications, understands multi-platform challenges, and can demonstrate how AI agents and modern workflows can dramatically increase engineering velocity.
The Role
You’ll help lead the rewrite of a core customer application onto a modern multi-platform architecture, while proving how a small team of engineers working alongside AI agents can deliver significantly more impact.
You’ll combine strong engineering judgement with practical experience using AI tooling to reshape how software is designed, built, tested and shipped.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the technical approach for a modern multi-platform mobile architecture.
- Build key customer journeys using AI-assisted engineering workflows.
- Introduce agentic development practices that improve speed, quality and delivery.
- Own architectural decisions across mobile, frontend and backend integrations.
- Work alongside the Tech Lead to prove a new model for software delivery.
What They’re Looking For
- Lead-level software engineering experience with strong mobile expertise.
- Proven experience building and scaling production mobile applications.
- Experience with multi-platform architectures and modern application development.
- Demonstrable experience using AI agents, coding assistants or agentic workflows to accelerate delivery.
- Strong architectural judgement and ability to own complex technical decisions.
- Someone who experiments, learns quickly and is excited by the future of software development.
