Technical Lead – AI / Full-Stack Engineering
Remote first (once a fortnight in London- can be more flexible if required) | Up to £120k + Bonus + Equity
We’re working with a fast-growing, technology-led financial services business that is investing heavily in AI, product development and modern engineering.
They’re looking for a hands-on Technical Lead to join their engineering team and help shape the technical direction of the platform while continuing to build software yourself.
This is a role for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, getting stuck into the code and having genuine influence over what gets built.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build and ship customer-facing applications, APIs and internal platforms.
- Remain hands-on with coding, testing, architecture and code reviews.
- Build AI-enabled products using LLMs, RAG, agents and model APIs.
- Take AI ideas from rapid prototypes through to reliable production systems.
- Work across Python, React/TypeScript, Django, FastAPI, PostgreSQL and AWS.
- Improve architecture, engineering standards and delivery practices.
- Work closely with product, business and engineering stakeholders to solve complex problems.
- Mentor and support engineers through pairing, reviews and technical guidance.
- Make pragmatic decisions around scalability, security, reliability and maintainability.
Technology
Python | React | TypeScript | Django | FastAPI | PostgreSQL | AWS | Docker | REST APIs | CI/CD | Git
AI experience across LLMs, RAG, agentic workflows, embeddings, prompt design or model evaluation is particularly valuable.
What They’re Looking For
- 5–10 years' commercial software engineering experience.
- Strong, recent hands-on Python development.
- Strong full-stack capability, ideally including React/TypeScript.
- Experience building and operating production systems in AWS.
- Solid understanding of software architecture and distributed systems.
- Practical experience building with AI/LLMs rather than purely theoretical knowledge.
- Experience taking ownership of complex technical problems.
- Ability to influence technical direction without needing formal authority.
- Clear communication and a calm, pragmatic approach.
Financial services or FinTech experience is useful but not essential.
Why Join?
This is a chance to join at a point where AI is becoming a core part of the product strategy, giving you the opportunity to work on technology with a tangible customer impact.
You’ll have significant technical ownership, plenty of hands-on engineering, exposure to senior stakeholders and a clear route towards Principal Engineering, Architecture or wider technical leadership.
The environment is collaborative, ambitious and flexible, with plenty of scope to influence how the technology evolves.
Package
- Up to £120,000
- Annual performance bonus
- Equity / growth shares
- 30 days' holiday + bank holidays
If you're a Senior Engineer, Staff Engineer or Technical Lead who wants to stay hands-on while taking greater ownership of architecture and AI-enabled products, this could be a strong next step.
