(Entry-Level / Junior) role supports the Delegation’s digital tools, systems, and online communication platforms. The Junior Developer will assist in developing, testing, and maintaining web applications and internal tools used by staff and stakeholders. Daily tasks include writing clean, well-documented code under the guidance of senior team members, fixing bugs, and performing basic troubleshooting. The role also involves collaborating with colleagues to gather requirements, updating content or features on existing systems, and supporting data integrity and security practices. The Junior Developer will participate in code reviews, learn and apply best practices, and contribute to continuous improvement of technical processes.
Qualifications
- Foundational programming skills in one or more languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python, Java, or similar) and basic understanding of software development principles.
- Basic web development knowledge, including HTML, CSS, and familiarity with front-end frameworks or libraries.
- Ability to work with version control tools (e.g., Git) and follow collaborative coding workflows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in debugging and testing.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote, multicultural environment.
- Relevant education in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Interest in international cooperation, public service, and the European Union’s work in South Africa; prior experience in an international or public-sector setting is an advantage.
- Willingness to learn new technologies, follow guidance from senior developers, and adapt to evolving technical and organizational needs.
