The Mobile Engineer role owns the development of reliable, high-performance iOS and Android experiences used by customers every day. The work spans product delivery, mobile architecture, API integration, offline behavior, performance optimization, and release management across native and cross-platform surfaces.
The engineer will partner with product, design, backend, and QA teams to turn product requirements into polished mobile workflows. This role matters because mobile is a primary customer interface, and decisions around responsiveness, reliability, accessibility, and platform consistency directly affect user adoption and retention.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and ship production mobile features using Swift and SwiftUI for iOS, Kotlin and Jetpack Compose for Android, or React Native/Flutter where appropriate
- Design maintainable mobile architecture, including navigation, state management, networking, persistence, dependency injection, and modularization
- Integrate REST and GraphQL APIs, authentication flows, push notifications, analytics, feature flags, and third-party SDKs
- Improve application performance, crash rates, startup time, battery usage, and accessibility using profiling tools such as Instruments, Android Profiler, and Firebase Performance
- Develop comprehensive unit, integration, and UI tests using XCTest, XCUITest, JUnit, Espresso, or equivalent frameworks
- Manage mobile releases through CI/CD pipelines, App Store Connect, Google Play Console, Fastlane, and staged rollout processes
- Collaborate in design reviews, code reviews, incident investigations, and technical planning while documenting decisions and operational risks
- 3–8 years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 2 years building and shipping production mobile applications
- Strong experience with either iOS development using Swift/SwiftUI or Android development using Kotlin/Jetpack Compose; familiarity with both platforms is highly valued
- Proficiency with mobile architecture patterns, asynchronous programming, networking, local storage, accessibility, and platform-specific lifecycle behavior
- Experience integrating REST or GraphQL services, OAuth or token-based authentication, push notifications, deep links, analytics, and remote configuration
- Demonstrated ability to test, debug, profile, and release mobile applications through automated CI/CD pipelines
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- Bonus: Experience with React Native or Flutter, Kotlin Multiplatform, mobile observability, payments, offline-first systems, or large-scale consumer applications
