ABOUT FLEETGEN
FleetGen is the compliance and carrier verification platform freight brokers use to stop fraud before a load moves. Since the Supreme Court's Montgomery v. Caribe ruling in May 2026, brokers can be sued for hiring the wrong carrier, and our data is how they protect themselves.
• In production with paying customers, used by teams at Amazon, GEICO and the U.S. Department of Transportation
• 3,000+ users; peaked at over 2 million carrier searches in a single month earlier this year
• Users tell us they trust our carrier data over the incumbents' (Highway, Carrier411, RMIS)
• Launch has soft-committed to our current round and has expressed interest in our Series A
WHO THIS ROLE IS FOR
A senior engineer, often with a day job, who wants real ownership in a startup that already has traction, not another side project. You'll be one of the first engineers, working directly with the founding team, and the architecture you set is the one the company scales on.
WHAT'S ALREADY BUILT
You're joining to harden a live product and ship what's next, not to start from zero.
• Carrier search: our core product. DOT/MC and name lookup over FMCSA authority, insurance, inspection, crash and safety data, with a risk score and findings report per carrier.
• Carrier monitoring: watches carriers and alerts brokers when authority, insurance or ownership changes.
• AI COI verification: an agent that emails a carrier's insurer, follows the reply chain, requests the certificate of insurance and verifies coverage without a human chasing it.
• TMS + mobile driver app: shipments, customers, ELD tracking and audit-verified proof of delivery.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Own the bug queue: triage, reproduce, fix and ship, including performance on data-heavy pages
• Build features end to end, from Postgres schema to React Native screen
• Extend our AI agents (COI verification today, more document and verification workflows next)
• Improve the data layer behind search: schema design, indexing, query performance and FMCSA/insurance ingestion pipelines
• Harden security: Supabase Row Level Security, auth, secrets handling, rate limiting and groundwork for SOC 2
• Ship directly with the founders. No layers, no tickets passed through three people.
MUST-HAVES
• 3+ years of professional software engineering, and at least one production app you built and shipped yourself (App Store / Google Play, or a live web app with real users)
• Strong TypeScript and React Native (Expo a plus), plus React/Next.js on the web
• Hands-on Supabase/Postgres: Row Level Security, auth, edge functions, migrations, query tuning
• You've shipped LLM features to production: OpenAI or Anthropic APIs, RAG, agents or document extraction
• Based in the U.S., authorized to work in the U.S. (we can't sponsor visas), and reliably available 15 to 20 hours a week with overlap during Pacific business hours
NICE TO HAVE
• AWS or GCP, CI/CD and Docker
• Security-first habits: OWASP basics, least-privilege access, safe handling of PII and insurance documents
• Search tuning, email parsing, or data pipelines for government or insurance data
• Logistics, freight or insurance experience
• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a related field
COMPENSATION (EQUITY-FIRST, PARTNER TRACK)
• 5% equity in FleetGen, with vesting terms walked through on our first call
• 10% revenue share for your first 12 months
• $100,000 cash bonus when our Series A closes
• Part-time (about 15 to 20 hours a week) and remote to start, as a partner rather than a contractor, with room to go full-time after the Series A
• A founding seat: you shape the architecture and the engineering team that comes after you
If you currently work full-time elsewhere, please make sure your employment agreement allows outside work.
OUR PROCESS (FAST)
1. A 20-minute intro call with a founder
2. A 60-minute technical conversation: walk us through something you built and how you'd tackle one of our real problems
3. A decision within a week.
HOW TO APPLY
Apply with your GitHub or a production app you built, one paragraph on the hardest bug you've fixed, and your weekly availability.
