Who We Are
At Good Pair Days, our mission is to make exceptional wine accessible and enjoyable for everyone, from beginners to enthusiasts. Through expertly curated selections, personalised recommendations, and innovative technology, we help customers discover wines that excite the senses and expand their wine world.
We believe wine should be approachable, fun, and full of stories. We strive to create an experience that is welcoming, engaging, and memorableâboth online and in-store. With the launch of our first-ever physical store, weâre bringing our unique approach to wine retail into a new space, where customers can explore, taste, and learn in person.
Join us on this exciting journey as we help people find wines theyâll love and enjoy every day!
Staff Product Engineer
Youâll be part of the technical heartbeat of GPD: owning our customerâfacing wineâmatching engine, subscription platform and retail systems while laying the tracks for our next phase of AIânative experiences (think conversational pairing, dynamic pricing, and inâstore magic).
Working directly with the Head of Engineering and a lean product team, you will:
- Contribute to the technical direction â architecture, technology choices, roadmap sequencing.
- Ship highâimpact features endâtoâend â from React UI to Django API to infra code.
- Guard reliability & performance â 99.9âŻ% uptime, pageâload <âŻ2âŻs, and squeakyâclean DX.
- Embed data & experimentation â dashboards, A/B tests, and âtwoâminute SQLâ to answer any why.
- Levelâup the team â mentor, and instil lightweight, high standards as we grow from 1âŻââŻ5+ engineers.
Whoâs a good fit?
- Takes full ownership â accountable for uptime, code quality and delivery; jumps into any fire.
- Resourceful problemâsolver â thrives solo today, comfortable leading a small squad tomorrow.
- Commercial thinker â talks retention curves and gross margin as fluently as GraphQL resolvers.
- Product shaper â doesnât just build whatâs specced; shapes the solution by understanding the customer problem, exploring trade-offs, and simplifying complexity.
- Challenges & asks why â healthy debate with leadership; hunts for real bottlenecks.
- AIâobsessed tinkerer â plays with every major model release and lives in AIânative IDEs (Cursor, Codex, Orchestrator, Claude CodeâŚ).
- Fullâstack bias toward action â React/ReactâŻNative, Python/Django, GraphQL, Postgres, AWS (or the conviction you can master them fast).
- Opsâliterate â IaC, CI/CD, observability; can chase a latency spike from CloudFront to EXPLAIN.
- Mentor & multiplier â drafts crisp guidelines, reviews for clarity, and grows those around you.
Why Join Us?
- Scale whatâs already working â weâre profitable, loved by customers, and early in our growth curve.
- Own meaningful upside â up to A$250âŻk salary + attractive ESOP.
- Greenâfield AI projects â build novel consumer wine experiences no one else is shipping.
- Joyful, adventurous culture â we ditch wine snobbery for inclusive, curiosityâfuelled service every time.
