Our Customer team plays a critical role in achieving this by building cutting-edge mobile experiences that drive patient acquisition, engagement, and satisfaction. We are hiring a Director of Engineering to lead our Mobile App team within the Core Experience group, with additional responsibility for key post-submit web experiences that drive retention and customer success. In this role, you will shape the strategy for both mobile and post-submit journeys, scale high-impact consumer experiences, and elevate our engineering culture. You will own the end-to-end vision, strategy, and execution for these platforms—leading multiple squads to deliver best-in-class experiences for millions of customers. As Director, you will be accountable for the end-to-end vision, strategy, and execution for our mobile platform, leading multiple squads and managers to deliver best-in-class apps for our customers. You will own the long-term technology strategy, roadmap delivery, talent development, and operational excellence. This is a highly visible role that will partner with senior executives to shape the future of mobile at Hims & Hers. You Will

  • Own the mobile engineering vision, strategy, and roadmap, ensuring alignment with company and Customer org objectives.
  • Lead and scale high-performing squads, including managing engineering managers and senior ICs.
  • Anticipate growth needs, evolving team structure, processes, and architecture for scale and performance.
  • Drive predictable, high-quality delivery of app features and platform improvements.
  • Champion architectural excellence, scalability, and maintainability, incorporating emerging technologies and best practices.
  • Ensure systems meet business-critical SLAs for reliability, performance, and security.
  • Oversee delivery practices, instilling Agile, Lean, and DevOps principles for continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Product, Design, and Data leadership to deliver impactful, customer-centric solutions.
  • Collaborate with Care, Fulfillment, AI, and Marketing teams to integrate mobile into cross-company initiatives.
  • Represent app engineering in executive forums, influencing company-wide priorities and investment decisions.
  • Build and retain a diverse, inclusive, and high-performance engineering culture.
  • Mentor and grow engineering managers and technical leads, creating clear career pathways.
  • Foster psychological safety, collaboration, and shared ownership across the organization.

You Have

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in software engineering, including 3+ years of experience in a fast-paced, product-focused environment.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills—able to translate strategy into clear execution plans.
  • Proven success owning a technical domain’s strategy, execution, and org health.
  • Commitment to talent development, diversity, and building high-trust, high-performing teams.
  • Deep expertise in modern mobile and web technologies (React Native, Typescript, iOS/Android best practices), with strong knowledge of web technologies (React, NextJS, GraphQL) a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience architecting and scaling applications with a focus on performance, maintainability, and user experience.
  • Strong track record of delivering complex, cross-functional programs with measurable business impact.
  • Adept at balancing speed and quality, and creating a culture of continuous improvement and ownership.
  • Strategic mindset with strong business acumen and the ability to advocate for technical priorities in organizational-level planning.
  • Passionate about talent development, fostering inclusive teams, and creating growth paths for engineering leaders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (advanced degrees or equivalent experience a plus).
