Senior Software Engineer (Product Engineer) — Remote, East Coast AU/NZ — $170k–$180k
Join a profitable, bootstrapped B2B SaaS company building software for the trades industry (think electricians, plumbers, builders). No investors, no burning-platform urgency, just a ~20-person team shipping product that genuinely matters to the people who use it.
The role
This isn't a ticket-taking job. You'll join a 6-person engineering team running short, 3-week cycles where you're handed real business problems, not specs, and expected to shape your own solution, often by talking directly to customers and stakeholders. We're looking for a senior engineer who wants to own outcomes, not just execute tasks.
What you'll be working on
- A product moving from estimation software into on-site, offline-first tools for tradies in the field
- AI-driven features: smart defaults, metadata extraction, and an MCP server integration
- A modern TypeScript stack end to end (Node.js, MongoDB, React), with growing real-time/websocket and offline-sync work
What we're looking for
- Senior engineer, comfortable working independently without heavy oversight
- Genuinely full-stack, equally comfortable across backend and frontend, not a narrow specialist
- Daily, hands-on user of AI tools in your workflow. Not AI-skeptical, and not purely AI-crutch without underlying fundamentals
- Strong communicator. We weight this as highly as technical stack match
- Comfortable with ambiguity. You'd rather be handed a problem than a ticket
Nice to have
- Experience with offline-first or real-time sync architectures
- Applied ML/AI product experience
- Background in customer-facing or forward-deployed engineering
Why join
Fully remote, flat structure, no layers of approval or politics. You'll work directly with the Head of Engineering and founders. Outcomes over hours, and an explicit culture of not expecting nights or weekends.
