Senior Front-End Engineer – React

Whilst this is a fully remote role, candidates must be based in Northern Ireland. Candidates from the rest of the UK will not be considered.

My client is seeking a Senior Front-End Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team building scalable, component-driven applications using React. You'll be instrumental in driving forward a next-generation UI framework, collaborating closely with design, product, and backend teams to deliver seamless user experiences.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll contribute to technical strategy, lead complex UI development projects, and mentor other developers in modern front-end best practices.

What You’ll Do

• Design and develop performant, reusable front-end components using React
• Contribute to and maintain a scalable, modern front-end framework
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on architecture, performance, and accessibility
• Lead code reviews, advocate for clean code and testing practices
• Drive adoption of modern front-end tooling (e.g., Vite, Webpack, ESLint, Storybook)
• Stay current with evolving front-end technologies and bring in relevant innovations

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of front-end development experience
• Deep expertise in React and its ecosystem (Hooks, Context API, component architecture)
• Solid experience with TypeScript, CSS-in-JS, and state management libraries
• Familiarity with mobile-first, responsive design
• Experience working with RESTful APIs and modern build tools
• Understanding of performance optimisation, testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library), and CI/CD pipelines
• Bonus: Experience with React Native or mobile development

Nice to Have

• Exposure to server-side rendering (e.g., Next.js)
• Design system experience (e.g., Storybook, Figma integration)
• Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG)
• Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading small teams
