We are looking for a Software Engineer with Python and SQL skills to join our talented and innovative data engineering team.
This role sits within a part of Optum UK responsible for taking large data sets from various sources and converting them into meaningful insights. Your main focus will be on a project looking at vast amounts of hospital admission data and converting it into data to support research and the finding of any patterns that can be useful in developing proactive and preventive steps in primary care. This will help healthcare teams to identify opportunities to be more efficient, improve services, and design/optimise healthcare interventions.

What you’ll do
We believe in the power of technology to make healthcare faster, better, and more accessible to all, and therefore you will play a key part in supporting us to deliver the data to make it happen!
The role will see you working on supporting our data engineering teams to provide the best insights for the business and our customers to help them take advantage of our products and services.
Other key responsibilities and accountabilities will include;
- Writing high quality code consistently
- Working collaboratively to produce products and share ideas
- You will be involved in all aspects of the development lifecycle including architecture, testing, as well as cutting code.
- Building data lakes
Who you’ll be
You will have experience working as a Software Engineer where you have produced high quality code in Python and SQL Server and you will be comfortable working in a small team.
We want you to be able to have a growth mindset, take ownership and accountability for what you are doing and be keen to learn new technologies.
