About People for Nature
People for Nature is a citizen-led non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering individuals to reconnect with and protect the natural world. Through participative workshops, conservation actions, and citizen science, we aim to inspire meaningful action and foster a deeper understanding of climate and biodiversity challenges.
Position Summary
We are seeking a passionate Volunteer Front-End Developer to help us build and maintain our web applications using Next.js. This is an opportunity to contribute your skills to a meaningful cause, collaborate with a small but passionate team, and gain experience in a mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain web applications using Next.js and React.
- Collaborate with designers and other developers to implement user-friendly interfaces.
- Assist in building responsive, accessible, and high-performance web pages.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimise existing code.
- Contribute ideas for improving the web platform and user experience.
- Work alongside the team to deliver projects on time, while balancing volunteer hours.
Essential Criteria
- Strong experience with Next.js and React.
- Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, or similar backend integration.
- Understanding of web performance optimisation and accessibility standards.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn and share knowledge.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with Git/GitHub for version control.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., Vercel, AWS) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience contributing to open-source projects.
