Sr. Software Engineer, Workflow (Backend Or Fs-leaning Backend)

About the Opportunity:

The organization develops a platform enabling businesses to scale through automation and AI, with a mission to make automation accessible for all users. The Workflow Zone is responsible for the core engine powering the automation platform, focusing on enhancing capabilities, reliability, and intelligence. The opportunity is for Sr. Backend Engineers and Sr. Fullstack Engineers (backend-leaning) to join high-impact teams such as Editor Creation, Runner, and Workflow Capabilities, driving advancements in workflow automation and user experience.

Responsibilities:

• Redesign and modernize workflow creation experiences for performance, clarity, and scale

• Build flexible UI components and configuration flows supporting no-code and AI-assisted automation

• Contribute to foundational infrastructure for new editor paradigms and UX modularity

• Collaborate with Product and Design to streamline the workflow automation journey

• Build systems to proactively detect, surface, and explain errors in user workflows

• Design actionable debugging experiences to help users resolve issues efficiently

• Turn customer pain points into product improvements by collaborating with Support

• Develop and maintain the execution engine, scaling it for millions of daily runs

• Improve system performance, reduce latency, and strengthen failure handling

• Design and implement execution primitives for reliable automation

• Collaborate across infrastructure, product, and platform teams on core system design

• Build foundational logic tools such as branching, conditional execution, and looping

• Design and maintain system-level automations for internal use

• Deliver reusable workflow primitives in partnership with other teams

• Enhance configuration and control surfaces for power users and enterprise use cases

Requirements:

• Minimum 7 years of professional software development experience, including at least 2 years in a senior-level role

• Strong backend experience in Python and Django and/or TypeScript and Node.js with proven reliability, scalability, and observability

• For Full Stack roles: Advanced experience with React and frameworks like Next.js, with confidence across the stack

• Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL), including data modeling, querying, and optimization

• Experience in designing and consuming RESTful APIs, building event-driven systems, and integrating data across services

• Proven ability to lead complex technical projects, including design ownership and implementation guidance across multiple contributors
