About The Role
Reddit is seeking a highly experienced Staff Android Engineer to lead the development and strategic vision of Reddit’s Video Ads platform. This role involves collaborating closely with product and design teams to create innovative, high-performance ad formats that enhance brand visibility and user engagement. As a technical leader, you will oversee the entire development lifecycle, from conceptualization and prototyping to deployment and optimization. Your expertise will help Reddit establish itself as a leader in video advertising, leveraging cutting-edge technologies including AI and user-generated content integration. This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of advertising on one of the internet’s most influential platforms, ensuring scalability, quality, and performance across Android devices.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years specializing in Android development.
- Deep expertise in Kotlin and modern Android architectural patterns.
- Proven track record of delivering 4+ Android projects from ideation to production deployment.
- Experience in Ad Tech, particularly in building highly interactive and rich-media mobile experiences.
- Strong product mindset with a focus on UI polish and performance optimization.
- Ability to design and implement fault-tolerant, data-intensive client-side systems.
- Experience leveraging GenAI tools to enhance software engineering productivity.
- Proficiency in working with product metrics, designing experiments, and analyzing data using tools such as BigQuery, Firebase, HEX, etc.
- Openness to exploring innovative approaches, including AI/ML integration, and working across the tech stack when necessary.
- Self-directed, innovative, with a bias toward action and building new solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of collaborating effectively in remote environments with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Partner with Product and Design teams to develop a comprehensive roadmap for transforming Reddit Video Ads into an industry-leading format.
- Lead the technical design and execution of projects related to video ad formats, ensuring scalability and high quality on Android devices.
- Establish Android best practices and provide ongoing design reviews to maintain technical excellence.
- Drive the full development lifecycle, including discovery, prototyping, testing, experimentation, and deployment.
- Mentor senior engineers across teams, fostering a culture of operational excellence, innovation, and customer-centric design.
- Implement and advocate for scalable, high-performance ad formats that meet business and user needs.
- Leverage AI and emerging technologies to enhance ad experiences and engineering productivity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of new ad formats into the existing platform.
- Analyze product metrics, user feedback, and experiment results to continuously improve ad performance and engagement.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure Reddit remains at the forefront of ad innovation.
