About the Opportunity:
The SENIOR MOBILE ENGINEER will take ownership of the mobile experience used by teams in sensitive and operationally constrained environments. The role focuses on enhancing reliability and performance of the mobile app to ensure dependable functionality in challenging connectivity and security conditions. This position contributes by shaping mobile architecture and improving software quality, directly impacting the effectiveness of secure collaboration in high-stakes settings.
Responsibilities:
- Architect the mobile app to operate effectively in DDIL and constrained network environments
- Enhance data reliability and functional stability across connection lifecycles and failure scenarios
- Manage crash-free and release health metrics using telemetry for proactive issue resolution
- Profile and improve app performance in startup time, networking, storage, rendering, memory, and battery use
- Own critical iOS and Android native integrations and the interface with cross-platform code
- Maintain and develop platform capabilities such as push notifications, background execution, and secure storage
- Navigate mobile distribution and device management constraints including enterprise deployment and MDM solutions
- Diagnose production issues through native traces, telemetry, and field logs
- Provide architecture recommendations balancing immediate needs and long-term platform goals
- Mentor engineers on architecture, reliability, performance, and platform best practices
- Uphold required security and compliance standards for government and enterprise clients
- Contribute to the open-source codebase
- Utilize AI coding tools effectively to enhance engineering output without compromising quality
Requirements:
- Deep expertise in iOS or Android development, with a strong working knowledge of the other platform
- Strong understanding of mobile architecture, platform SDKs, lifecycle constraints, and networking fundamentals
- Experience building reliable mobile systems that handle unreliable connectivity and synchronization
- Proficient in mobile performance profiling and production debugging on real devices
- Skilled in using production data and release-health signals to drive reliability improvements
- Experienced in architecture recommendations and owning technical outcomes
- Ability to work across native and cross-platform codebases
- AI fluency and experience with coding agents to increase engineering output responsibly
Preferred:
- Experience with React Native and TypeScript
- Knowledge of mobile persistence, synchronization, or offline-capable systems
- Familiarity with real-time communications or media frameworks like WebRTC, CallKit, or Android audio APIs
- Experience with enterprise mobile distribution, MDM, AppConfig, or Intune MAM
- Background in building software for security-sensitive or regulated environments
- Contributions to open-source projects
Pay Range and Compensation Package:
- Target salary range: $165,000 to $215,000
- Compensation determined by skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions
