About the Role
Come Near is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to lead the technical design and development of its highest-priority initiative: a personalized digital engagement platform. This role will contribute across the web platform, from user interfaces and APIs to data infrastructure, while supporting high-traffic campaigns and media events.
The position is part of a lean, fully distributed team and involves close collaboration with internal engineers and external vendor teams across different time zones.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and deliver full stack features across the web platform, covering the UI, API, and data layers.
- Develop production code using Next.js, React, Tailwind CSS, and shadcn/ui while following established architecture and technical standards.
- Implement and maintain caching, CDN, and edge configurations using Cloudflare, Vercel, or comparable platforms.
- Deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot services within the AWS environment.
- Integrate with data and personalization pipelines while handling personal and sensitive user information according to established privacy and security practices.
- Participate in code reviews and provide or receive feedback on code quality, performance, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with vendor engineering teams on shared codebases while following established integration contracts and API patterns.
- Coordinate project handoffs and status updates with distributed team members and vendor engineers across time zones.
- Maintain clear asynchronous documentation to support remote collaboration.
- Write and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
- Troubleshoot production issues, including performance and reliability challenges during high-traffic events.
- Document development work through pull requests, runbooks, and contributions to team design documents.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building full stack web applications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Next.js and React.
- Working knowledge of Tailwind CSS and component libraries such as shadcn/ui.
- Practical experience with caching strategies, CDN configuration, and edge platforms such as Cloudflare, Vercel, or comparable services.
- Working knowledge of AWS services relevant to modern web applications, such as S3, Lambda, RDS, and CloudFront.
- Experience writing and maintaining automated tests across unit, integration, and/or end-to-end levels.
- Comfort working in shared codebases, reviewing other engineers’ code, and receiving feedback on your own work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with external agencies or vendor engineering teams.
- Exposure to analytics or event-tracking pipelines.
- Familiarity with AI/ML-powered product features from an integration or consumption perspective, rather than model development.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
