Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) affects 1 in 10 women globally, yet it remains one of the most under-diagnosed and misunderstood hormonal disorders. Our startup addresses the social and healthcare inequality faced by individuals with PCOS, who often experience delayed diagnosis, misinformation, and a lack of holistic support. Many face chronic physical and emotional challenges—ranging from irregular periods and infertility to anxiety, depression, and body image issues.

Socially, PCOS is stigmatised and frequently dismissed, especially in low-resource settings, where access to specialised care is limited and digital health education is minimal. Environmental challenges also arise from a lack of culturally sensitive, inclusive, and personalised resources for managing lifestyle and medical interventions.

We aim to close these gaps by providing accessible, evidence-based tools and community support to help individuals manage PCOS proactively—supporting not just physical health, but also mental well-being, self-advocacy, and long-term empowerment.

Our startup empowers individuals with PCOS to take control of their health through a personalised, holistic digital platform. We combine science-backed tools, expert guidance, and community support to address the unique and complex challenges of managing PCOS.

Role (Volunteer): Back-End App Developer.

🩺 About the Project

We’re building a user-friendly app to support women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) through personalized treatment plans, lifestyle tracking, and education. The app will provide an accessible, supportive digital space — and we need your help to bring it to life from our design mockups.

📱 Role Overview

We’re seeking passionate mobile developers (Android & iOS) to help convert Figma designs into a working app. You’ll collaborate with a designer and another developer to bring our healthcare-focused concept to life.

Your work will include mapping the database structure, building intuitive app views, implementing backend logic, and ensuring a smooth, consistent user experience across both Android and iOS platforms.

🌟 Responsibilities

• Collaborate with 1–2 other developers and a designer to build the app.
• Interpret Figma UI/UX designs and translate them into functional screens.
• Design and organize backend data structures and APIs to support app logic.
• Create and test app features such as:
• Symptom tracking
• Meal & exercise logs
• Appointment reminders
• Educational content access
• Implement authentication, notifications, and user data synchronization.
• Ensure app performance and consistency across Android and iOS.
• Use AppSheet or native frameworks (React Native / Flutter / Swift / Kotlin) to develop, depending on your expertise.
• Test for usability and optimize based on team feedback.
• Document app architecture and backend integration for future scalability.

🧠 Skills & Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in Android and/or iOS app development.
• Proficiency in at least one mobile framework (e.g., Flutter, React Native, Swift, Kotlin).
• Familiarity with backend development (Firebase, Node.js, or similar).
• Experience with database design, data capture, and management.
• Comfortable reading and working from Figma designs.
• Understanding of API integration and RESTful principles.
• Basic knowledge of relational data and user authentication flows.
• Bonus if you have any knowledge or passion for women’s health, nutrition, or chronic care programs.
• A collaborative mindset and attention to detail.
