About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer, Frontend, to join our Advanced Trading team within the Consumer & Business group. In this pivotal role, you will lead the front-end technical strategy for Coinbase Advanced, our trading platform tailored for experienced traders. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the performance, reliability, and scalability of our web and mobile trading clients. You will be responsible for developing low-latency interfaces that support multiple instrument types, enabling traders to execute transactions efficiently and securely. Qualifications
- 8+ years of mobile software engineering experience on iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin), with proficiency in the other platform
- Willingness to develop cross-platform fluency, owning both iOS and Android development
- Proven experience optimizing complex UI systems for performance, including rendering, network efficiency, and state management at scale
- Strong background in leading technical strategy, architecture decisions, and trade-off analysis for product areas
- Experience mentoring senior engineers and improving engineering standards and delivery velocity
- Familiarity with high-availability, low-latency systems such as trading platforms or real-time data applications
- Knowledge of generative AI tools and responsible utilization to enhance workflows and deliver business value
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to partner with cross-functional teams
- Define and own the front-end technical roadmap for Coinbase Advanced, establishing architecture decisions that ensure a reliable and scalable trading platform
- Drive performance improvements across rendering, network efficiency, and state management to deliver a low-latency trading experience
- Lead complex, multi-quarter technical initiatives from conception to implementation, maintaining high standards for code quality and system design
- Mentor and develop senior engineers, fostering technical growth, decision-making, and best practices within the team
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership to translate business priorities into actionable technical plans and deliver impactful features
- Shape front-end engineering practices and establish conventions that support team growth and development velocity
- Stay current with industry trends and incorporate innovative solutions to enhance platform performance and reliability
