About The Role
We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Frontend, to join the Advanced Trading team within our Consumer & Business group. In this role, you will lead the front-end technical strategy for Coinbase Advanced, our sophisticated trading platform designed for experienced traders. You will be responsible for the performance, reliability, and scalability of our web and mobile trading clients, developing low-latency interfaces that support traders across multiple instrument types. This position is at the intersection of crypto, trading infrastructure, and consumer product, offering a high-impact opportunity to influence both the platform and the engineering team.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of mobile software engineering experience on iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin), with proficiency or willingness to develop skills on the alternate platform.
- Proven expertise in optimizing complex UI systems for performance, including rendering, network efficiency, and state management at scale.
- Experience leading technical strategy for a product area, including architecture decision-making, trade-off analysis, and cross-team alignment for multi-quarter initiatives.
- Demonstrated success mentoring senior engineers and driving measurable improvements in engineering standards and delivery velocity.
- Familiarity with high-availability, low-latency systems such as trading platforms, financial systems, or real-time data applications.
- Responsible utilization of generative AI, ensuring human oversight to produce business-ready outputs and enhance workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
- Own the front-end technical roadmap for Coinbase Advanced, defining architecture decisions that support a reliable and scalable trading platform across web and mobile.
- Drive measurable performance improvements in rendering, network efficiency, and state management to deliver a low-latency trading experience.
- Lead complex, multi-quarter technical projects from inception to completion, maintaining high standards for code quality, system design, and engineering rigor.
- Provide hands-on mentorship to senior engineers, elevating technical decision-making and fostering growth within the team.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership to translate business priorities into actionable technical plans and deliver high-impact features.
- Establish front-end engineering best practices and patterns that scale with the team, setting conventions to accelerate development velocity.
- Competitive annual base salary ranging from $218,025 to $256,500 USD, depending on work location.
