Senior Software Applications Engineer | Remote (Must be a US Person) | Up to $200,000
A fast-growing defense technology building counter-drone systems is hiring a full-stack engineer to build its internal manufacturing software. Your first project is taking a manufacturing data platform from working prototype to production and connecting test stations, inspection equipment, and factory systems to it. After that, the role widens: as the company scales toward rate production, engineering, quality, and operations will all need tools that don’t exist yet, and you’ll build them.
What you’ll do
- Take internal tools from prototype to production, covering backend, frontend, database, and deployment
- Build ingest connectors for test stations, inspection equipment, and manufacturing systems
- Design database schemas that keep test and manufacturing data queryable and trustworthy
- Own results capture and data contracts for test systems
- Work with AI/ML, engineering, shop floor, and leadership teams to turn their needs into tools, datasets, and dashboards
- Own data governance and user support, including roles, audits, and training
What you’ll bring
- 5+ years of professional software engineering
- Python and FastAPI backend development and API design
- TypeScript/React full-stack development and automated testing
- PostgreSQL schema design and SQL
- Experience deploying self-hosted apps with Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, or similar
- Working knowledge of manufacturing, test, or quality data
