About the Role
Tier4 Group is seeking a Senior Frontend Software Engineer – Lead to provide hands-on technical leadership across consumer-facing web and mobile products. This role combines frontend development with architectural decision-making, technical planning, and mentorship of distributed engineering teams.
Working closely with Product, Design, and Engineering, you will help deliver high-quality customer experiences while ensuring applications remain scalable, reliable, and maintainable. The position is remote and suited to an experienced engineer who can contribute directly to production code while guiding technical direction and supporting the development of other engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of complex software initiatives.
- Translate business and product objectives into technical plans and execution strategies.
- Identify architectural trade-offs, dependencies, and risks early in the development process.
- Establish and maintain development standards, engineering best practices, and technical direction.
- Build and maintain modern web applications using React, Next.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
- Contribute directly to production code and participate in important technical decisions.
- Develop and maintain integrations with backend services and APIs.
- Support mobile application initiatives and cross-platform user experiences.
- Improve application performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Contribute to observability, monitoring, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
- Support systems handling high-volume transactions and revenue-critical events.
- Participate in production support and on-call activities as needed.
- Collaborate with Product and Design teams to improve customer experiences throughout the product lifecycle.
- Coordinate with platform, infrastructure, engineering teams, and external development partners.
- Communicate technical concepts and architectural trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Conduct code reviews, facilitate architecture discussions, and provide technical guidance to team members.
- Mentor engineers through coaching, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
Required Qualifications
- Seven or more years of professional software engineering experience.
- Experience leading technical delivery for a product, platform, or engineering team.
- Strong expertise in React, Next.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
- Experience with Node.js and API-driven architectures.
- Experience designing and supporting customer-facing applications in production environments.
- Understanding of distributed systems, authentication and authorization, caching strategies, third-party integrations, and asynchronous workflows.
- Experience with cloud-native development and deployment practices.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and technical decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with React Native, Expo, or mobile application development.
- Experience with AWS, Vercel, or other modern cloud platforms.
- Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
- Familiarity with Ruby on Rails, Python, or similar backend technologies.
- Experience with observability tools such as Datadog, Sentry, or similar platforms.
- Strong testing experience covering unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Experience with e-commerce, marketplaces, checkout systems, payment platforms, or multi-tenant SaaS applications.
