Zoyra | FemTech & HealthTech Startup | UK | Remote
Compensation: Equity-based (no salary initially)
Commitment: Part-time, flexible hours
Stage: Early-stage startup with an existing MVP prototype and established partnerships
About ZoyraZoyra is an early-stage FemTech and HealthTech startup on a mission to make fertility, reproductive health and family-building support more accessible and affordable.
Our B2B model aims to help companies, particularly SMEs, offer meaningful fertility and family-building benefits to their employees.
We've already developed an initial platform prototype and established partnerships with healthcare providers across the UK and Italy. We're now looking for a technical co-founder to help turn the prototype into a secure, scalable, market-ready product.
We're looking for a hands-on Technical Co-Founder / Senior Full-Stack Developer who can take ownership of the technical development of Zoyra.
This is an equity-based opportunity for someone who believes in the mission, enjoys building products from an early stage, and wants to play a meaningful role in shaping a growing startup.
The initial commitment is flexible and part-time, making it suitable for an experienced developer who currently has a full-time job but is interested in building something of their own.
Key Responsibilities- Review, improve and further develop our existing platform.
- Own both front-end and back-end development, with particular emphasis on back-end architecture, security and scalability.
- Implement secure user authentication, role-based access control and account management for individuals, employers and healthcare professionals.
- Develop appointment booking systems, specialist availability calendars and scheduling functionality.
- Integrate video consultations through solutions such as Whereby.
- Integrate Stripe for secure payment processing.
- Build and improve B2B employer dashboards and B2C user experiences.
- Design and maintain secure databases, APIs and third-party integrations.
- Implement appropriate security measures for handling sensitive personal and health-related information.
- Work closely with a UK/EU GDPR legal specialist to translate privacy and regulatory requirements into technical safeguards.
- Support future integrations with regulated financial infrastructure providers for employee benefit accounts and portable wallets.
- Help define the product's technical roadmap, architecture and future mobile app strategy.
Essential:
- Strong experience as a Full-Stack Developer, ideally at senior level.
- Proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks, particularly React and Next.js.
- Strong back-end development experience with Node.js, Python or comparable technologies.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, Supabase or similar database infrastructure.
- Experience designing and integrating REST APIs and third-party services.
- Knowledge of authentication, authorisation, encryption, secure coding and database access controls.
- Experience integrating payment gateways such as Stripe.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, deployment, monitoring and application security.
- Ability to independently assess existing code, identify vulnerabilities and make architectural decisions.
- A product-oriented mindset, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously.
Nice to Have:
- Previous experience in HealthTech, FemTech, MedTech or FinTech.
- Understanding of UK GDPR, EU GDPR and privacy-by-design principles.
- Experience building platforms involving sensitive health-related data.
- Familiarity with GDPR-compliant infrastructure, data minimisation, retention policies and audit logging.
- Experience with video consultation platforms and appointment scheduling systems.
- Knowledge of regulated payment infrastructure, embedded finance or digital wallets.
- Previous startup or technical co-founder experience.
- Experience developing mobile applications using React Native or Flutter.
- Equity ownership in an early-stage UK startup, with terms to be discussed based on experience, responsibilities and commitment.
- The opportunity to join as a technical co-founder and influence the company's product and technology strategy.
- Flexible, remote working arrangements.
- An existing prototype to build upon rather than starting from scratch.
- Established relationships with healthcare providers and commercial partners in the UK and Italy.
- The chance to build technology that could make a meaningful difference in people's reproductive health and family-building journeys.
