Senior Full Stack Developer – AI Product (m/f/d)

At Cito, we're expanding our Development team and are specifically looking for experienced software engineers based in Croatia.
You can live and work remotely from anywhere in Croatia while becoming a long-term member of our international team. No relocation to Germany required.
Your Role
Want to do more than just write code?
In this role you will develop new features from initial idea to release – using Django for the backend, React for the frontend, and our AI components. You'll work on our user interface, communication with carriers, automated email processing, and the continuous improvement of our AI agents and prompts. You're equally comfortable working on the frontend and backend and ensure our solutions run reliably for our customers.
Your Mission
- Take ownership of core parts of our AI architecture, not just individual features.
- Design and build scalable AI agent systems, including multi-step reasoning, decision pipelines, and tool use.
- Ensure the reliability and quality of AI outputs through evaluation, monitoring, and guardrails.
- Continuously improve our LLM systems, including prompting, fine-tuning, tooling, memory, and orchestration.
- Build observability and evaluation frameworks, such as regression tests for AI systems.
- Collaborate closely with Business and Product to drive real impact on processes and revenue.
- Make technical decisions with long-term impact on architecture, tech stack, and scalability.
What We're Looking For
- At least 5 years of professional software development experience, including building and maintaining features in production.
- Strong knowledge of Python/Django and PostgreSQL.
- Solid experience with React and TypeScript, with the ability to independently own frontend features.
- Hands-on experience building LLM-powered product features.
- Experience with API integrations, background processing, and troubleshooting production issues.
- A strong commitment to testing, a high level of ownership, and enthusiasm for working in a small team.
- Fluent English; German language skills are a plus.
- Nice to have: Experience with Azure, Langfuse, AI coding tools such as Claude Code, or knowledge of the logistics industry.
