About The Role
We are seeking a versatile and experienced software engineer to join our team as a generalist who will take ownership of projects across our entire codebase, spanning both front-end and back-end systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive solutions from initial concept through to production. The core product is an intelligent agent that facilitates the creation of physical objects, which involves working on interactive 3D experiences in the browser, APIs, data models, and background processing jobs. You will collaborate closely with the CTO, engineering team, and the Mimo system itself on a daily basis. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, product intuition, and hands-on experience with physical making.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience developing customer-facing products with significant contributions to codebases or projects.
- Strong expertise in one area of the stack and proficiency in the other: either interactive 3D web development (e.g., Three.js) with demonstrated performance optimization, or back-end services, APIs, and data modeling.
- Proficiency in React and TypeScript for front-end development.
- Experience with Python back-end development and relational data modeling.
- Excellent product judgment, capable of shaping problems, making UX decisions, and shipping products independently without a dedicated product manager.
- Hands-on experience with physical making processes such as 3D printing, machining, molding, soldering, or assembly.
- Familiarity and regular use of AI coding agents, maintaining high standards for their output.
- US work authorization is required; visa sponsorship is not available.
- Experience with CAD, 3D printing, or product configurator software.
- Knowledge of WebGPU and glTF asset pipelines.
- Experience designing chat and agent interfaces or tool evaluation.
- Background in measured onboarding, activation, or conversion optimization.
- Manufacturing, hardware, or shop-floor experience.
- Own projects end-to-end, including scoping, development, deployment, and post-launch performance analysis, such as developing new interactive surfaces in Mimo Studio.
- Develop across the full technology stack, from user interfaces and APIs to data models and long-running background jobs that convert designs into production-ready files and quotes.
- Optimize 3D rendering in the browser to ensure fast and accurate interaction with complex models, including large assemblies on standard laptops.
- Design and refine the user experience of building parts with an intelligent agent, determining what the system displays, requests, and executes within the interface.
- Measure and analyze user interactions focusing on performance, reliability, and polish, backed by quantitative metrics.
- Collaborate closely with the CTO and engineering team to continuously improve product quality and delivery speed.
- Leverage AI tools to enhance development workflows and maintain high-quality code standards.
- Participate in a fast-paced, adaptive work environment that values transparency, honesty, and team collaboration.
- Competitive salary range of $150,000 to $200,000 base pay.
