Principal Engineer – Agentic AI Engineering | AI-Native Technology Consultancy Fully remote UK | Client travel approximately 2 days per fortnightUp to £150,000 + benefits Agentic AI, Claude Code, Software Architecture, Distributed Systems, Full-Stack Engineering Principal Engineer - We're working with an ambitious technology consultancy that is redefining how software is designed, built and delivered through agentic AI. Working with major organisations across financial services, gaming and other sectors, they help businesses solve complex technology challenges, modernise their platforms and adopt new ways of working with AI. Having embedded agentic engineering into their own delivery model, they've already demonstrated what's possible, including delivering a project that would traditionally have taken 12 months in just three. They're now scaling their engineering capability to meet significant demand from clients looking to achieve similar results. They're looking for exceptional Principal Engineers to help shape this next phase, combining deep engineering expertise with the ability to influence clients and demonstrate the commercial potential of AI-native software development. The Principal Engineer As a Principal Engineer, you'll operate at the intersection of hands-on software engineering, technical leadership and client consultancy. You'll work across complex client engagements, typically owning the technical direction of one or two projects while contributing to pre-sales, technical discovery and solution design for new opportunities. A major part of the role is helping organisations understand and adopt agentic engineering practices. You'll need genuine commercial experience of using AI agents to accelerate software delivery, alongside the technical judgement to ensure what gets shipped is secure, scalable and production-ready. This isn't a pure architecture or management position. You'll remain close to the code, capable of solving difficult engineering problems yourself, while having the communication skills and commercial awareness to influence senior stakeholders and lead technical conversations with clients. What will the Principal Engineer do?

Lead architecture and delivery across complex software engineering engagements.

Introduce and embed agentic AI workflows that transform engineering productivity.

Work directly with senior clients to shape technical solutions and drive buy-in.

Stay hands-on, solving difficult engineering problems and reviewing AI-generated output.

Lead technical discovery, pre-sales and solution design for new opportunities.

Mentor engineers and raise standards across AI-native software delivery.

What will the Principal Engineer bring?

Principal, Staff or exceptional Lead-level software engineering experience.

Deep technical foundations, with full-stack capability and a core area of specialism.

Commercial experience using AI agents and tools such as Claude Code to deliver significant engineering work.

Strong architecture, distributed systems and modern cloud engineering experience.

Experience with technologies such as .NET, Java, Go, Python or similar.

Excellent communication skills and confidence working with senior business and technology stakeholders.

Strong commercial awareness, pragmatism and a consultancy mindset.

The Ideal Background This Principal Engineer role would suit an exceptional engineer who combines strong technical delivery with the ability to influence people, clients and organisations.Consultancy experience would be particularly valuable, although they're equally interested in engineers from high-performing product businesses who have developed strong stakeholder management and commercial skills. You need to be genuinely AI-fluent in how you work. Using Copilot or Claude as a coding assistant isn't enough. They're looking for people who have embraced agentic workflows, understand how to orchestrate AI agents, engineer the right context, review their output and build the quality controls needed to ship production software. You should also be comfortable working with clients across different industries, including gaming, betting and gambling. Why This Role? This is an opportunity to join a business that is genuinely putting agentic AI into practice, rather than simply experimenting with the latest tools. You'll work alongside some exceptionally talented engineers, have direct exposure to the CTO and senior technology leadership, and play a significant role in shaping how the business and its clients approach the future of software engineering. You'll have the opportunity to work on complex technical challenges, influence senior business leaders and help organisations understand how AI can fundamentally change the economics of software development. This is an amazing opportunity for a Principal Engineer who wants to be at the forefront of agentic engineering while retaining hands-on technical ownership. Please reply with your CV or call Simon for a chat. Job Title: Founding Product EngineerSalary: £50,000 FTE (£40k - 4-day week)Location: Remote (UK-based)Employment Type: Permanent About Swellbase Swellbase is the booking and operations platform built for outdoor activity centres. I own a surf school myself, and I built Swellbase to replace the generic tools that never fit how operators actually work. We're now working with 25 operators across the UK, Canada, and Australia and have managed over £800k in bookings to date. We're moving the industry away from generic booking tools towards one platform that runs the whole centre. The role I'm hiring our first engineer to own the build while I focus on selling. I set the roadmap and priorities; you turn them into great product. That means:

Taking roadmap items from a short brief to production: scoping them, designing the UX and making the technical calls, without needing to be chased

Bringing a product mindset to every feature: thinking through edge cases, keeping things simple and asking "what does the operator actually need?"

Working directly with me as your reference customer. I own a surf school, so you get answers from a real operator in minutes, not weeks of research

Getting stuck in wherever you're most useful. It's an early-stage startup, so priorities shift, and some weeks the most valuable thing will be unblocking a deal or helping a new operator get going

The stack Next.js, TypeScript, Supabase (Postgres), Stripe Connect and Vercel. Senior Frontend Engineer

About CircleCI Engineering CI/CD has been solved. Now it's being reinvented. AI agents don't just run pipelines. They write code, trigger builds, interpret failures, and propose fixes. The interfaces that developers use to understand and trust that work don't exist yet. We're building them. At CircleCI, our guiding principles aren't posters on a wall. We learn fast: we run experiments, accept failure, and scale what works. We think like the customer: every decision connects back to the developer sitting in front of a failing build at 2 am. We own the outcome: not just our slice of it, but the whole thing. If that's how you already work, you'll fit here. Team-Agnostic Placement We don't hire for a team. We hire for CircleCI. Where you land depends on where your strengths create the most leverage, and we figure that out together. You might own the CI pipeline experience, deploy and release tooling, notification infrastructure, monetization flows, AI agent surfaces, or the foundational web platform. The through line across all of it is the same: full-stack ownership, a high bar for craft, and work that directly shapes how tens of thousands of developers experience CircleCI every day. What You'll Do

Build AI-natively. AI is how we work. It's not a productivity layer on top of engineering, but the default starting point for how problems get approached and solved.

Own technical strategy for your domain. You decide when and how the architecture evolves, balancing technical debt against velocity. When a project spans teams, you're the one who breaks down the ambiguity and takes ownership of whether it lands.

Invent new interfaces. Software delivery is being reinvented. Pipelines run autonomously, generate fixes, and surface results that need human judgment. The tools developers use to understand, trust, and act on that work don't exist yet. You'll define what they look like and establish the patterns the team builds on.

Own the full stack, at scale. Build features end-to-end in Go, React, and TypeScript. Your ownership extends past your own code to the systems and teams around it.

Connect engineering to the business. Partner directly with Product and Engineering Management to translate business goals into technical strategy. You understand the "why" behind the roadmap and use it to make tradeoffs.

Champion observability. Drive monitoring and alerting strategy across your domain, not just your own services. Use Honeycomb, Datadog, and Rollbar to reduce noise and improve the org's ability to diagnose problems quickly.

Mentor at scale. Mentor multiple engineers at once. Build the systems and documentation that transfer knowledge and remove single points of failure, not just your own.

What You'll Bring

AI-native engineering practices. You use AI tools daily and can speak to what you've built, where they changed your approach, and where they fall short.

A track record of shipping at scale. You've built and owned systems that other engineers build on. 8+ years of production full-stack experience, with a history of taking accountability for outcomes.

Full-stack depth. Strong across the stack — React and TypeScript on the frontend, Go on the backend, owning API design, data modeling, and service integration.

System design, across domains. You own architecture decisions that span multiple systems and teams. You make the tradeoff calls, document the reasoning, and are the person others escalate to when the answer isn't obvious.

Business acumen. You understand how your domain connects to the broader business, and you use that context to guide technical decisions, not just implement them.

Technical leadership. You mentor engineers, give direct feedback on technical direction, and raise the quality bar across teams through how you engage in reviews and design discussions, not just what you ship.

Sound like you? You've stopped waiting for AI to mature and are already building with it, not as a productivity trick, but as a core part of how you think about problems. You care about the product as much as the code. You're drawn to work where the patterns don't exist yet and the best answer requires you to invent it. If that's how you already operate, we want to talk. The salary range listed reflects the wide geographic scope of this posting, as we hire across the United States and Canada. Actual compensation is determined based on a combination of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and geographic location. We use technology to support our recruiting team so they can spend more time on what matters most: getting to know you. Where we may use AI

Job descriptions and messaging: AI may help draft job descriptions and role-specific messaging so they are clear and accurate.

Application review: For some roles, we use an AI tool to review applications, including resumes and application responses, against criteria our hiring team sets for the role. The tool generates a fit score and summary to help recruiters organize and prioritize applications.

Interview notes: With advance notice, an AI note-taking tool may join interviews to record, transcribe, and summarize the conversation. This lets interviewers focus on talking with you. You will be told before each interview, and you may opt out at any stage by letting your recruiter know. If you opt out, the tool will not join, and your candidacy is not affected.

Outreach: AI may help draft candidate outreach and scheduling messages, which our team reviews before sending.

Our commitment AI does not make hiring decisions at CircleCI. Our recruiters and hiring teams review candidates and make every decision to advance or reject an application. No candidate is rejected based solely on an AI score. We have tools and processes in place to test for bias and to review how these tools perform, and we adjust our approach as AI technology and the laws that govern it change. Your choices You can ask for human-only review of your application, opt out of AI interview note-taking, request an accommodation, or ask questions about how we use AI. Senior Software Engineer

Location The senior Full-Stack Engineer will be an integral part of our Engineering teams in EMEA.This role is based remotely as a full-time employee in the UK, Ireland, Estonia, the Netherlands, Sweden and Israel. We are also open to contractors in Eastern Europe and Portugal. Who We Are DoiT is a global technology company that works with cloud-driven organizations to leverage the cloud to drive business growth and innovation. We combine data, technology, and human expertise to ensure our customers operate in a well-architected and scalable state - from planning to production. Delivering DoiT Cloud Intelligence, the only solution that integrates advanced technology with human intelligence, we help our customers solve complex multicloud problems and drive efficiency. With decades of multicloud experience, we have specializations in Kubernetes, GenAI, CloudOps, and more. An award-winning strategic partner of AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure, we work alongside more than 4,000 customers worldwide. The Opportunity AI is the fastest-growing line on our customers' cloud bills - and the hardest one to see. Model APIs, managed inference, GPUs, and a growing fleet of agentic coding tools each report spend differently, and most teams still can't answer the basic questions: what are we spending, on which workloads, for which teams, and is it worth it. Our AI cost visibility product, part of DoiT Cloud Intelligence, exists to answer them. We're hiring a Senior Full-Stack Engineer into our R&D team to own this product end-to-end - from the Go services that ingest and model AI spend, through the APIs that expose it, to the React interfaces where FinOps practitioners and platform engineers make decisions. This is a young product in a category being defined right now. You'll shape how it works, not just implement someone else's spec, and there is a short line from your work to what customers see. You'll work AI-augmented from day one. We expect you to use AI across your whole workflow - not as an occasional autocomplete - and to have real opinions about where it earns its place and where it doesn't. Responsibilities

Owning features end-to-end. This is the core of the role. Take a problem from understanding the customer's pain, through design and implementation, to release, monitoring and iteration. You define what done looks like and you own the outcome - reliability, user experience and measurable impact included. Propose the work you think should happen; you're not here to wait for a spec.

Knowing the product and the domain. Understand how AI spend actually works - token and model pricing, inference and GPU economics, how usage rolls up to teams and initiatives - and how FinOps practitioners reason about it. You should be able to explain why a feature matters to a customer as clearly as how it's built, and bring that judgement into every design decision.

Working AI-augmented. Use AI daily across the full span of your work - exploring the codebase and unfamiliar vendor APIs, prototyping approaches, generating and reviewing code, debugging, writing tests and producing documentation. Push on what agentic tooling can do for this codebase, and bring judgement about where AI raises velocity and where a human still has to hold the quality bar.

Full-stack delivery. Design, build and scale backend services in Go and product experiences in TypeScript and React. Turn large volumes of cost and usage data into interfaces that make the answer obvious - clear, fast and trustworthy enough to base financial decisions on.

API-first. Build capabilities so they're fully available through APIs, not just the UI. Both humans and agents should be able to drive the platform.

Raising the bar. As a senior engineer, set the standard for the team: thoughtful design reviews, guard-rails that let customers succeed, and engineering practices that let us move fast without breaking trust. Mentor peers and share what you learn. Qualifications

7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including multi-tenant SaaS products, with a track record of owning features or products end-to-end in production

Strong Go for backend services - APIs, data processing, and the operational realities of running them

Strong TypeScript and modern React, with a good eye for how data should be presented

Comfortable across the stack. You may lean backend or lean frontend, but you can own a feature from the data model through to the interface

Experience building on public cloud (GCP preferred; AWS or Azure), and working proficiency in SQL against an analytical store such as BigQuery

Product-oriented thinking - you care as much about why you're building something and whether it works for users as you do about how it's built

AI-augmented working style - you already use AI tools across your engineering workflow and can talk concretely about what you've got out of them, and where they fell short

Strong knowledge of software engineering practices, design patterns and architectural principles, and the ability to set direction for others

Comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-moving market - you can figure out the right problem to solve, not just the right solution

Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal

Self-organized, goal-oriented and self-motivated; confident, thorough and tenacious Bonus Points

Knowledge of FinOps and FinOps products would be a strong plus.

BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.

Demonstrating a portfolio of what you've built in your career so far

Are you a Do'er? Be your truest self. Work on your terms. Make a difference. We are home to a global team of incredible talent who work remotely and have the flexibility to have a schedule that balances your work and home life. We embrace and support leveling up your skills professionally and personally. What does being a Do'er mean? We're all about being entrepreneurial, pursuing knowledge, and having fun! We actively cultivate an inclusive, equitable workplace, recognizing that each unique perspective enhances our innovation. By celebrating differences, we create an environment where every individual feels valued, contributing to our collective success.
